Trail Two, Session 7 = Jesus as Son of Man and Son of God

1. Prayer:

a. Read the Nicene Creed together as you begin (page 39).

2. Trail Talk:

a. Who is Jesus? Do you ever think of Jesus as being flesh and blood (just like you)? Share insights from this weeks Bible Readings

3. Son of Man:

Q1: What characteristics would you want to make sure were included in your favorite picture of Jesus?

(1) How do you picture Jesus? What does he look like?

(2) What would Jesus look like today? How would you recognize him?

(3) When you say or hear the name of Jesus what do you see?

Read the Hebrew passages on pages 40-41

Q2: How does the fact that Jesus is "fully human" affect your faith in him and your commitment to him as one of his disciples? What do you think about the fact that Jesus often referred to himself as "Son of Man?" What does the term "Son of Man" mean?

4. Son of God:

a. Read Philippians 2:1-11 and Colossians 1:1-20. What characteristics of Jesus as the eternal son of God emerged from these two passages.

b. Do you have any trouble understanding Jesus as both very human and very God?

c. The most important question that Jesus ever asked his follows was "Who do you say that I am?" How would you answer Jesus?

(1). Reading Assignment:

(a) As you read the chapter for next week (pages 45-50), underline or highlight special thoughts and answer the questions in the Q boxes.

(b) Complete the daily Bible readings and place your reflections, questions and insights in your "My Witness Journal"

c. Action Assignment:

(1) Complete the Action Assignment on page 44.
