1. Prayer:

a. Read the entire prayer section (page 45-46).

b. Close by reading the Lord’s prayer, slowly and with emphasis, to the group. Ask them to listen to the "petitions" of the prayer.

2. Trail Talk:

a. This week you focused on others needs and praying for them. Did you find it easy or difficult? What effect did this exercise in prayer have on you? What kind of answers did your prayers receive?

3. Jesus Messiah:

a. What does "Messiah" mean?

b. Messiah is deeply rooted in Jewish history and religion. The Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) contains many references to the "expected Messiah". The OT closed out - - still looking forward to the "expected Messiah". This Messiah was to be of royal lineage and have great armies. The Messiah was the one would intervene into history "on our behalf." Jesus Christ literally means Jesus the Messiah (Jesus the anointed one). How does thinking of Jesus as "Messiah" make you feel?

4. King Jesus:

a. Both the Hebrew and Greek (New Testament) Bibles use the image of Jesus as King and teach us about the "kingdom of God". How does that relate to your faith journey?

Is "kingdom" something you can understand living in a "democracy"?

b. When we pray "thy kingdom come" - - what are we praying for?

5. Jesus, God Incarnate:

a. Jesus as God. Is that a difficult concept for you to understand? We sing that Jesus is worthy to be praised - - is Jesus God? Is God Jesus?

b. Read Philippians 2:5-11 at the bottom of page 48.

c. Read The Nicene Creed on page 39 of the student book.

6. Moving On:

a. Review what we have covered this week.

b. Assignments for Next Week
